Those arrested for drug possession in Alameda County today are almost 9 times more likely to be sentenced to prison than they were back in the 1980s. There were 21 people sent to prison in Alameda County for drug possession, in 1999 there were 216. Deaths from cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines, and psychedelics make up 25% of drug related deaths. In 2009 850 arrest warrants were served for DUI infractions , they’ve been arrested for DUI and then did not show up for court, haven’t paid their fine, or haven’t gone to DUI school ,whatever it is , there is now a warrant issued for their arrest.There are now 38,000 drivers in California with three or more DUIs. in 2010, arrests for dangerous drugs, like methamphetamine, phencyclidine (PCP) and barbiturates was up. According to a press release from the State Attorney General’s office, dangerous drug arrests were up 12.2% in 2011. However as you will see below the total number of drug arrests has been decreasing. In 2008 there were 4,076 arrests for drugs in Alameda County In 2009 there were 4,205 arrests In 2010 there were 3058 arrests In 2011 there were 1834 drug arrests in Alameda County
