Established in 1850 Yuba County is home to over 72,388 residents.

In a study published in 2010, it was revealed that crime rates for felony and misdemeanor drug offenses decreased from 1,375 per 100,000 in 2000 to 1,026 per 100,000 in 2008, after peaking in 2003 at 1,948 per 100,000.  In 2008, arrests due to dangerous drug offenses accounted for approximately 22%, narcotics for roughly 8%, marijuana for 30%, and 40% were for other drug violations. Crime rates for felony and misdemeanor alcohol offenses also decreased from 2,774 per 100,000 in 2000 to 2,659 per 100,000 in 2008. Yuba County’s alcohol arrest rate was significantly higher than the state overall each year.

The same study also showed that while the crime rated for drug and alcohol related crime decreased, so did the death rates for alcohol and other drugs. The death rate due to alcohol and drug use decreased between 2000 and 2007 from 22.08 deaths per 100,000 to 9.73 deaths per 100,000. Yuba County’s AOD mortality rate was lower than the state overall in 2007.
